6 CLEE for Law Enforcement Officers
Service Description
The 1-day training is created to instruct first responders how to observe and identify the characteristics of unresolved trauma; and the impact it can have on someone’s behavior(s), their ability to regulate their emotions, and the skills necessary to connect and interact with others. Topics that will be covered include: - Basics of brain biology & how trauma impacts it - Explore how the nervous system can impact a person's behavior(s), overall health & social interactions - Understand the 7 Core Emotions & the factors that affect how a person expresses & manages them - Learn about attachment styles & how early childhood attachment experiences shape how their nervous system responds to stress throughout their life - Explore how family patterns & early childhood experiences profoundly shape a person's health & their nervous system - Understand how developmental trauma influences a person's ability to regulate emotions & cope with stress Blending expert guidance, deep discussion, and practical application of equine assisted activities, the training offers a hands-on approach to exploring the impacts of trauma and addresses the skills and techniques necessary to improve emotional regulation and increase the capacity to cope with stress. 6 CLEE units are available to law enforcement officers at $60 per credit hour. For officers needing financial assistance, the Gary Sinise Foundation has a grant that first responder departments can complete to request funding for training. Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATIONS: • If rescheduling your training becomes necessary, please reschedule at least 24 hours prior to the training date. • In the case of emergencies or work-related tasks arising during a training, participants should speak with their department supervisor and a Horses & Heroes staff member to discuss their rescheduling options PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: • All participants agree to be present for check-in, roll call, and the safety brief • The safety brief is mandatory for participation in the training • Late arrivals (more than 15 minutes) will not be allowed to participate in the training and must reschedule • To complete the course, all participants agree to attend the course in its entirety • Willful participation, especially in the practical application exercises, is required for participants to successfully complete the course • Participants must be alcohol and drug free while attending the course; it is for the participant’s safety and the safety of others. • Close-toed shoes are mandatory to enter the horse space(s); choosing to wear open-toed shoes will prevent individuals from participating in the practical application portion of the training
