Horse Grooming Experience
Meet The Horses that Serve Our Heroes
Service Description
Enjoy an afternoon as a family and come to pamper one of our rescued horses! Your session will include a one-hour interactive experience grooming a horse carefully and properly. You will also learn about the horse's life, how it got a second chance, and how it became a therapy horse. Don't forget to capture a family photo once the horse is groomed to your liking! You can add to your session by adding picnic time while enjoying the sun and fresh air (see menu for add-on pricing- bring your picnic). Add-on fishing dock time and try your luck catching a fish. Each family is limited to one fish, which they may keep or catch and release at will. *We do not provide food, drinks, picnic blankets, fishing poles, or bait. A picnic table, bench swings, and camping chairs are available. All proceeds will be directed to the mental health program Horses & Heroes offers military and first responder service members. Your contribution helps provide essential care for our rescued horses and ensures that our clients can receive mental health services at no cost. At Horses & Heroes, you and your family can enjoy giving back together!

Cancellation Policy
RULES & AGREEMENTS Proper clothing and footwear are required to be in close proximity to the horses. All participants must wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. No smoking is allowed on the property. There is no riding included in the grooming experience, so please do not attempt to climb up, sit on, or ride any of the horses. Some horses have medical conditions preventing weight-bearing activities; even sitting on them results in pain. Your instructor will guide you through the grooming experience and answer questions about the horses as time permits. All instructions should be followed to maintain the safety and well-being of both horse and human. ANIMAL TREATMENT The animals at Hoses & Heroes are either donated to the program or rescued. Some of the horses have experienced traumatic events, debilitating injuries, neglect, or abuse. The staff and volunteers at Horses & Heroes have spent years rehabilitating the injured and building trust with the fearful. We ask that you and the other participants in your party understand the significance of remaining kind and considerate around these amazing therapy horses. The kindness and patience you share with the horses help ensure that our first responders and military service members can encounter horses that are empathetic to their stories and patient through their healing journey. PICNIC TIME No food or picnic supplies are provided. Bring your food, drink, flatware, and blanket. There is a picnic table on site that you are free to use. FISHING DOCK TIME Bring your own fishing pole, bait, and tackle to try your hand at catching catfish, crappie, or bass. Swimming is not allowed in the pond. CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12 Young children are welcome to participate in the grooming experience. If the child(ren) cannot understand the basic safety protocols (running behind a horse, climbing underneath a horse, etc.), holding their hand may be necessary. RESCHEDULING OR CANCELLATIONS To cancel or reschedule your session, please contact us at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
